A Step-by-Step Guide to your Experience with SPRINT

By , On , In Resources

Through SPRINT, internationally trained professionals in tech, specifically in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or Biotechnology and Life Sciences receive free access to a full suite of services that can support your career success.

Here is a step-by-step guide for you to better understand your experience with SPRINT:

Step 1 – Credential Evaluation by World Education Services (WES)

As a first step, you will get support for your academic credential evaluation. Having your credentials assessed will help show employers your qualifications and see if your credentials are equal to the standards set for Canadian workers.

Step 2 – FAST Competency Assessment by the IEC-BC

You can get access to Canada’s online competency assessment and career preparation program for five key industries, FAST (Facilitating Access to Skilled Talent). Self-paced online learning tools will be offered to you, including occupation-specific competency and skills assessment and the Prepare for Work in Canada learning modules. The average completion time may vary but generally, spending at least an hour a day between 2-3 weeks is recommended.

FAST will help you get a better understanding of industry expectations, and how your skills and competencies can best fit into what employers are looking for.

Step 3 – Industry Designation by Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) or BioTalent Canada

You will be referred to ICTC’s Information Technology Professional (ITP) Designation (valued at $500) or BioTalent Canada’s BioReady Designation and Technical online learning tools (valued between $200 – $450) at no cost.

These industry designations help employers recognize the competencies that you can contribute to their workforce, allowing you to stand out in a competitive job market.

Step 4 – E-Mentoring Support by Immigrant and International Women in Science (IWS) Network

If you identify as an immigrant woman or an internationally educated woman in tech and sciences, you will be referred to the IWS Network for peer-to-peer and mentoring support. You will be invited to monthly meetings on meaningful and relevant topics for your career success and have opportunities to network with industry mentors and peers.

In addition to the above, you will be also referred to unique and complementary value-added services based on your needs and goals, which include but are not limited to, Be Confident – a job interview simulation tool, and ASCEND – an employment readiness program for newcomers, and more.
